1 Doomsday

Doomsday

He had to arm the warheads
Like daddy used to do
His threats would not be idle
He had a point to prove
The hated folks among us
They are the first to go
And so he lit the fuses
And set the world aglow

I reach out
I cannot find you
I can’t recall the light of day
If I thought
You were there to see me
I’d hold on
Not fade away

The prison doors were open
The inmates were deceived
They rushed towards the courtyard
Brought down to their knees
Some soldiers stood there baiting
And taking turns to shoot
While others tired of waiting
Stripped bodies of their loot

I reach out
I cannot find you
I can’t recall the light of day
If I thought
You were there to see me
I’d hold on
Not fade away

The last of the survivors
Were strung out on the sand
They walked in brooding silence
Each held the other’s hand
I wonder if they’d spoken
Of what would they have told
Perhaps they’d have recalled the place
Men used to call the world

I reach out
I cannot find you
I can’t recall the light of day
If I thought
You were there to see me
I’d hold on
Not fade away

  1. Glad to see you are back on line and the creative juices are working, with the love songs set in a wider context. Looking forward to the next one. Geoff

  2. Thanks. Look forward to a new round of 26 episodes. Not enough time and money to record, but plan to have a new roster of songs to perform.
