2 Ghost

June 8, 2013

Ghost

It’s really not that easy
To tell you how I feel
That twisted lump of flesh and bone
That men believe is real
I know you think I am crazy
Ain’t obvious to most
But in the flesh you take me for
I am but a ghost

When your body’s toast
Don’t give up the ghost
When flesh is weak
And bodies reek
When old bones creak
And nostrils leak
Just leave behind the host

It is sometimes said by wisemen
We’re made of what we see
That is, it’s what I say and do
That makes you know I’m me
Yet where is I who speaks to you
It can’t be made of this
A twisted lump of bloody meat
That smells of shit and piss

When your body’s toast
Don’t give up the ghost
When flesh is weak
And bodies reek
When old bones creak
And nostrils leak
Just leave behind the host

But oh you say if you’re a ghost
What about your face?
That it’s you there can be no doubt
It even shows your age.
Yet if my face completely changed
and still expressed my soul
You’d still believe it to be me
The actor changing role.

I am the ghost in the machine I’m not defined by flesh
No body is made to trap me and make my life a mess
I just prefer to come and go the body is my whim
When it becomes a burden I leave it like a skin

It’s really not that easy
To tell you how I feel
That twisted lump of flesh and bone
That men believe is real
I know you think I am crazy
Ain’t obvious to most
But in the flesh you take me for
I am but a ghost

When your body’s toast
Don’t give up the ghost
When flesh is weak
And bodies reek
When old bones creak
And nostrils leak
Just leave behind the host

A response to current condition I take it? Have only read the words so far (excellent stuff) but look forward to playing when back from hols (I don’t do music with the phone!). Really hope all goes well next week…a close friend (from Fair Isle) is also on the op table for a major one in the coming days, so you and she are both uppermost in my thoughts… Lots of love from both of us xxxxx Sent from my iPhone
