7 Let Love Go

August 9, 2013

Let Love Go

Was it yesterday you loved me
Was it yesterday you cared
When you held my hand in silence
And led me to the bed
We may have fought like tigers
But we shattered many myths
And you always changed the routines
Every time we kissed

Let love grow, or let love go
No in between for a love that’s been
Why love takes, and why love breaks
Nothing’s changed, can’t explain

What happened to our fever
What happened to our soul
The spirit of revolution
We poured upon the world
Every time I saw you
It was a call to arms
And we’d elect what to correct
And set off the alarms

Let love grow, or let love go
No in between for a love that’s been
Why love takes, and why love breaks
Nothing’s changed, can’t explain

I cannot find the reason
I’ve gnawed away the bone
But sometime in the dead of night
Our love turned to stone
I was with a stranger
Time resumed it’s pace
And when I turned towards you
I could not see your face

Our love fell like acid rain
Burning pools of cold disdain
There grew flowers of contempt
Which mocked the time we’d spent

The corpse of our relationship
Is buried on the dunes
I dreamt I went to visit there
And sang our favorite tunes
Has time erased the bitterness
Or am I growing old
Perhaps it’s just the song is sung
The story has been told

Let love grow, or let love go
No in between for a love that’s been
Why love takes, and why love breaks
Nothing’s changed, can’t explain
