14 The Old Man in his Box

December 1, 2013

The Old Man in his Box

They will push, they will hit
He will not succumb to it
Won’t give up, won’t give in
He’ll fight the battle he cannot win

True to himself and to his past
He’ll live at home until the last
Innuendos spite and hate
Won’t dislodge him from his place

The old man in his box
The old man in his box
He’ll die with his boots on
Wearing no socks

He won’t act to save his face
He’ll survive a fall from grace
If you look him in the eyes
You will see he never lies.

He’s not a saint, he bears a grudge
Sometimes he’s too quick to judge
But the man will not be bribed
On principle he stakes his life.

The old man in his box
The old man in his box
He’ll die with his boots on
Wearing no socks
